How can we help?
Quick answers below, a real person a click away.
Talk to a human (or an orc).
Bugs, feature ideas, billing questions (there is no billing, but ask anyway), or just a story about how your kid negotiated a better interest rate. We read everything and answer within a day or two.
support@moneyorc.comFrequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Create a family account in the app, add an account for each child (a nickname is fine, no real names required), and set a weekly allowance. That is the whole minimum setup. We recommend adding chores next, then switching on the advanced modules one at a time as your child grows into them.
How does my child log in?
Log in as a parent, tap the child’s name, then open the Password module. The child login details (account number, first name and password) are shown at the top of that screen. Kids can log in on their own device or on yours; a device PIN keeps accounts separate on a shared phone.
How do I add another child?
Open the main menu in the upper-right corner and choose Add New Child. There is no limit on the number of children, and every module is available to every child for free.
Is MoneyOrc a real bank? Does real money move?
No. MoneyOrc is a ledger and a teaching tool. Balances are promises between you and your child; payouts happen the way they always have, from your wallet. There are no cards, no transfers and no fees, which is also why it is safe for a six-year-old.
What is the difference between chores and jobs?
A chore repeats on a schedule (dishes, trash, piano practice). Kids tick chores off daily on a weekly chore card, and money moves only after a parent approves the card. A job is a one-off task (wash the car, rake the leaves) with a deadline. The child submits it when done, and the reward is paid as soon as a parent approves.
Should kids be paid for chores at all?
Families disagree, and MoneyOrc supports both camps. Pay a fixed allowance and charge penalties for missed chores, pay per chore with no allowance, or combine the two. The app is a tool; you set the rules. We wrote a few articles about what tends to work.
What is the MoneyOrc Score?
A number that measures how reliable and responsible a child is: marking chores daily, submitting chore cards, taking unassigned jobs, paying fines on time, finishing loans and investments all raise it. Negative balances, missed payments, declined jobs and weeks of inactivity lower it. Depending on your setup, a higher score unlocks better investment plans and cheaper loans.
Can I edit a transaction?
Not directly, and that is on purpose. Transactions feed reports, balances and other calculations, just like in the real world. If a transaction was a mistake, issue a correcting one and note the reason. Kids learn that money has a paper trail.
Is the stock market real?
The companies, tickers and prices are real, fed from live exchanges. The money is not: every child starts with 25,000 play points and can reset the simulation at any time. Nothing bought or sold has any monetary value.
What does MoneyOrc cost?
Nothing. There are no subscriptions, no premium tier, no ads and no in-app purchases. We are a small company that built this for our own families and kept it free for everyone else’s.
How do you protect my family’s data?
We collect the minimum needed to run the service (a parent email address and the data you enter), never ask a child for an email, never sell or share data with advertisers, and keep kids’ in-app messaging sealed off from the outside world. Details are in our privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
Email us from the address on the account and we will remove it, including all child accounts and their history. We will confirm before anything is deleted.
