Why MoneyOrc

School won’t teach it. Banks won’t teach kids. You are the money teacher.

Most of us learned about interest from our first credit card bill. MoneyOrc gives your children a safe place to make small mistakes, feel real consequences, and build the habits that adults struggle to learn later: earn it, save for it, borrow carefully, protect what you have.

$0

Free. Really.

No subscription, no premium tier, no in-app purchases. The whole app, for every child in the family.

0

Ads shown to kids

Your children are not the product. There is nothing to click, nothing to buy, nothing to track.

0

Dollars at risk

MoneyOrc is a ledger, not a bank. No cards, no transfers. You stay the bank, with a very good memory.

How it works

Up and running before bedtime.

Start with the two things every family needs. Switch on the advanced modules whenever your child is ready for them.

1

Create your family

One parent account, a nickname and PIN for each child. Kids log in on their own device, or on yours.

2

Set the allowance and chores

Pick a weekly amount, add the chores you already nag about, decide what each is worth. Print a paper chore card for the little ones.

3

Grow into the grown-up stuff

Goals, funds and bonuses when they start wanting things. Loans, investments, insurance and the stock market when they start asking questions.

You remain the bank. MoneyOrc keeps the books, sends the reminders, and makes the lessons visible. Payouts happen the way they always have: from your wallet, with a smile.
What’s inside

Simple on day one. Surprisingly deep by year three.

Every module mirrors a real financial concept, simplified for a child and controlled by a parent.

Parent dashboard Weekly chore card calendar Savings goal screen Loan screen with payoff progress MoneyOrc Score gauge showing a score of 612
Allowance

Allowance that pays itself. Every week. On time.

Set a weekly amount per child and MoneyOrc posts it automatically. Add or deduct money in two taps, see every transaction, and never again hear “you owe me from last week”.

  • Automatic weekly or monthly payments
  • Full transaction history for every child
  • Bills-and-coins view that makes amounts real for younger kids

Chores & jobs

Chore cards kids actually tick off.

Weekly chore cards, one-off paid jobs with photo proof, and a sticky-note board of unassigned jobs any kid can grab. Mark chores done by tapping, scanning a printed QR code, or touching an NFC tag on the dishwasher.

  • Weekly cards approved by a parent before money moves
  • Jobs with deadlines, rewards, penalties and quality stars
  • QR codes, NFC tags and Siri shortcuts for the lazy-genius households

Goals & funds

Saving becomes a picture, not a lecture.

A goal is a photo of the bike and a progress bar. A fund is a savings bucket with parent matching and automatic contributions, so the hobby that keeps breaking expensive parts stays affordable and teaches budgeting on the way.

  • Visual goals with “how much more do I need?” built in
  • Funds with parent matching, caps and weekly interest
  • Automatic contributions from every job, chore or bonus

Loans & investing

Interest, explained by a pair of headphones.

Kids apply for a loan, see the weekly payment schedule, and watch what one extra payment does to the interest they owe. Investment plans run the other way: lock up $50 for five weeks, get $55 back. The math sticks because it is theirs.

  • Loan previews, schedules, extra payments and payoff rings
  • Parent-defined investment plans with real interest rates
  • A MoneyOrc Score that unlocks better rates for reliable kids

Stock market, score & more

A stock market that cannot hurt them.

Real tickers, live prices, 25,000 play points and a leaderboard. Plus insurance policies for the things kids break, rules and fines agreed in advance, bonuses for big goals, and a time vault for screen time earned the honest way.

  • Simulated trading with real market data and zero real money
  • Insurance with premiums, deductibles and claims
  • A MoneyOrc Score that grows with every kept promise

Grows with your child

The right lesson at the right age.

Turn modules on and off per child. A six-year-old sees a piggy bank. A sixteen-year-old sees a credit system. Same app, same family.

Ages 6–8

Money is real

Coins you can count, chores you can tick, and a picture of the thing you are saving for. Paper chore cards for the fridge.

All 13 modules

A whole financial system, pocket-sized.

Each one can be switched on per child, the moment it makes sense for them.

Balance

Cash, totals, auto-payments and a bills-and-coins view that makes money tangible.

Chores

Weekly chore cards kids tick off daily; parents approve at the end of the week.

Jobs

One-off paid work with deadlines, photo proof and sticky-note job boards.

Goals

A picture of the bike, a progress bar and the question: how much more do I need?

Funds

Savings buckets with parent matching and automatic contributions, like a kid 401(k).

Time Vault

Earn screen time instead of (or alongside) money, and spend it on purpose.

Bonuses

Long-term challenges: a 4.0 GPA, a clean room for 90 days, a first-place finish.

Fines & Rules

Rules agreed in advance, fines without the shouting, and a fair way to dispute them.

Investments

Parent-defined plans with real interest rates. Invest $50 for 5 weeks, get $55 back.

Loans

Apply, get approved, watch interest shrink as extra payments land. Credit, demystified.

Insurance

Weekly premiums, deductibles and claims for the things kids actually break.

Stock Market

Real tickers and live prices, 25,000 play points, zero real money at risk.

MoneyOrc Score

A credit-score-like number that rewards reliability and unlocks better plans.

Built for families, not advertisers

Safe enough for a six-year-old. Honest enough for a teenager.

Orc-mail is a sandbox

Kids and parents message each other inside the app. Nobody outside the family can ever reach your child, and MoneyOrc never sends anything on its own.

Parents approve everything

Chore cards, jobs, loans, claims and disputes all wait for a parent. Nothing changes a balance without your say-so.

Nothing to sell

No ads, no trackers, no data brokers. We never ask a child for an email address. The privacy policy is short enough to actually read.

“We don’t expect our kids to become bankers. But every one of them will meet a credit card, a car loan and a rent payment. Let’s make sure the first time isn’t the real one.”
The MoneyOrc mission, unchanged since 2012
Meet the team

Yes, our CEO is an orc.

MoneyOrc is made by a small, slightly unusual team: orcs, an elf, a dwarf, a goblin and one professional troll. Meet the people behind the app, and read why we built it.
